Introduction

The Frost Layer is a special layer introduced in the 2022 Winter Event and returned in the 2024 Summer Event permanently. Every mine reset, it replaced a random layer in the mine, which allowed for new ores in the event to be found. Some ores in the layer are exclusive to a specific layer/depth, which meant the ore can only spawn in the Frost Layer if it replaces a certain layer. The Frost Layer has 30 ores and three removed ores.

When the Frost Layer replaces a layer, all ores that would normally spawn in that layer can not be spawned for the duration of the mine, until the Frost Layer moves to another layer. Ores that can spawn in caves can bypass this restriction. The Frost Layer can be disabled with the Frost Neutralizer.

Trivia

  • When the Frost Layer was first added to World 1, there was a glitch which caused this and the Zanarchium layers to overlap, causing it to delete the Zanarchium layer and making it impossible to obtain until the mine reset. The lighting and music would still change to the Zanarchium layer's lighting and music, but no barriers would spawn at all.
