The Void Layer is the sixth and last layer of World 2's mine, spanning 5000m – 5999m. It has 25 ores with one being Retina, one of the two Otherworldly tier ores in World 2. It also had three ores from past events, one limited time ore and one removed ore.
Fake Mechanic
The Void Layer has a unique mechanic where it can spawn fake versions of Exotic+ ores accompanied with their spawn message and sound. Even ionized and spectral ores that spawn in the Void Layer can be fake as of The Rewrite™ update. These fake ores do not go into the player's inventory when mined. All fake ores will have a black border when hovering over the ore, acting as a visual indicator.
Example of what a fake ore looks like when hovered over.
The chance of a fake ore spawning per block is based on the ore's tier and how it is spawned, shown as follows:
For example, the chance of finding a fake Obliveracy Endmost, which is an Enigmatic tier ore, would be 1 in 77,061,652 (88,620,900 / 1.15). This chance is also affected by luck boosts from gears and pickaxes.
Fake ores can be disabled if the user is using the Candilium Candle or if Vitriolevent is active, but not both[1]. Allowing fakes to spawn does not impact the player's chances of getting a real ore, as the fake chance is rolled after the normal chance. Due to this, turning off fakes intentionally is a preferential choice rather than an advantageous one.
